An Ode to The Martyrs

Sing for the Legends of United
known to the world as the Busby Babes.
They were better than the world had ever seen,
so much that God wanted them on his team.

Oh does my heart cry, and oh, do I weep
this eve of the year, my eyes do not sleep.
Nothing can compare to the feeling I have,
when I remember my Martyrs of Munich.

The flowers of Manchester,
sent to me from heaven,
My heart cries when I remember them,
Duncan Edwards and Liam Whelan

Mark Jones, Byrne, Colman,
Bent, Pegg, and Tommy Taylor
departed for God's own house
leaving us in a floor of tears.

And they look down upon us now,
with a smile in their eyes, as they stand at the pearly gate.
Arise and sing to them, with me now, Lest we Forget,
that fateful night in Nineteen Fifty Eight.

Their bodies are gone
but their souls are immortal,
And they want you to sing before your eyes run dry
United will never die,
Manchester United will never Die.
